As of today, my TBR list has 2160 books on it. This is a product in part of having been on GoodReads since I was 13 years old…and having absolutely no restraint. I’m also a moody reader who has yet to meet a genre I’m not willing to try…and honestly I’m usually willing to try again! That being said, I’m quite confident that not all of those 2000+ books are ones that I still have intention to someday read (notably also impossible in my lifetime!). The creator of this feature is no longer blogging to my understanding, but the goal is to systematically work through your TBR list and weed out books that are no longer of interest and to note ones that are! Here are the five books I examined on my TBR list today.
Wicked Lovely by Marissa Marr | Removing this one from the list today. Most of the folks I follow and am friends with on Goodreads have lukewarm at best feelings about this. Most of the paranormal romance books I read these days are nostalgic from younger years. This feels like a good choice.
A Wind in the Door by Madeline L’Engle | Keeping this one for sure! I absolutely adored A Wrinkle In Time as a child and always love when I reread. Honestly, pretty surprised I haven’t blown through these. Might take the whole series with me when I go back to school because they are the perfect brain break sort of book to relax before bed.
It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini | I am really on the fence about this. I tend to be super picky these days with the YA I choose to pick up. The reviews are pretty mixed…some people say this is super boring and others say it was incredibly important to them. I think I’m going to remove it for now; I can always add it back on later if I decide I wanted to give it another chance.
Going Underground by Susan Vaught | This premise isn’t super engrossing to me anymore, and it’s SUCH a backlist title I have a feeling I’d have to really search online to find a used copy. Moving on without it.
The next six books on my TBR are all more Madeline L’Engle books, either from the Wrinkle series or from the Meet the Austin’s series (which I also loved as a child). They all get to stay.
Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley | Ooooh yes. This title is an award winning backlist but I really love the mysterious and melancholy vibes of the premise. This is the sort of title I would love to track down. Adding to my wishlist.
