Monthly Recap: November 2014

12.02.2014

November

Apparently where I live we sort of skipped Autumn.  Luckily I think it returned at least briefly before December gripped it’s hold.

Books/Movies/T.V./Music Books Read:

Frostbitten by Heather Beck

Popular: Vintage Wisdom for a Modern Geek by Maya Van Wagen

Story of a Girl by Sara Zarr

The 100 by Kass Morgan

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey (Re-read)

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Favorite book this month: daughter of smoke and bone

In preparation for YALLFEST I had a huge haul of books (so I could get them signed)!  You can see some pictures from that haul here.

T.V. wise I finished all the seasons of The 100 that are available on Netflix, and promptly went on to read the book.  (Which I have to say was not as impressive as I’d hoped it to be).

I also watched Criminal Minds (as always).  My brother convinced me to try Grey’s Anatomy again.  I struggle with that show sometimes, but the little blurbs on the episodes are helpful.  That way I can skip through the filler episodes and get to the fun stuff.  My brother hates that I do that, but oh well.

I watched way more movies this month than I usually do.  Netflix of course was the perfect supplier of tear jerkers.  I cried in Good Will Hunting and Stand by Me (Did you know that Stand by Me was based on the short story “The Body” by Stephan King)?  Anyway, I also watched Blackfish with some random family member because I literally will show it to anyone who is interested, (politely, and without shoving it in their face of course).

In theaters I got to see Mockingjay Part 1.  I thought that they paid attention to details very well but I still am disappointed that they split it up into two different movies.  MockingjayPt1 was lacking it’s own individual climax, because that half of the book didn’t have one.  I thought that they captured a lot of the book in good light, however.

I didn’t listen to a lot of music this month.  I’m not sure why.  Maybe because when I’m working out I’m addicted to The Raven Boys audiobook.  Please, if you are an audiobook lover or a skeptic this audiobook will change your life.  I promise.
