My Thoughts and Reflection:
After the cliff hanger epilogue and exciting plot to the previous book, I was anxious to get my hands on this one. It started off promising, and then just got weird.
The entire first 2/3 of the book felt like the same scenes being written over and over. It was sort of bizarre to find Emma suddenly living with her mother, and then all of this drama unfolds with her. From the moment that Jonathan comes into the picture it’s obvious that the author plans to have something occur between Emma and him. To be honest, it was just awkwardly written in. Not only was Jonathan strangely written in, he was also extremely creepy. I found myself yelling at Emma to get out of there before he did something to her. Ugh, that was just…
I was upset the entire book because Emma was ruining everything with Evan because of her dumb mom who was an alcoholic and her moms boyfriend who is only staying around for her. All of these easily avoided events lead to a heartbreaking epilogue, where Emma heads off to University early, she breaks of things with Evan. God, that didn’t need to happen.
In conclusion, this book was upsetting, frustrating, and not well written. I am disappointed after the amazing work that was Reason to Breathe. I am obligated to finish this trilogy, because I am not going to quit on my characters, or this author. The score is 1:1. I am getting a little sick of these Epilogue cliffhangers. She needs to find a better way to wrap the book up and still make you want to read the next one.
